Are you a Chicago professional who aspires to start your own venture, but feel it’s too risky or impossible to do because you don’t have enough time or money?
Northwestern Asian and Asian American Alumni (NU-A5), NU Club of Chicago, Latino Alumni of Northwestern University (LANU), Northwestern University Black Alumni Association (NUBAA), and NUMBALUMS bring together a panel of entrepreneurs to show you that starting your venture is actually quite feasible. They will be sharing their stories of the steps they took to de-risk their ventures and successfully start their companies while working a full-time job.
Their approaches range from working a corporate day job while bootstrapping their startups at night, to working a lucrative investment banking job while living frugally to save up enough money to quit investment banking and start a venture, to more approaches that lie in between. While their stories are diverse, our panelists all share the common theme of having designed and lived a highly deliberate and proactive lifestyle to create their own success.
Since then, these entrepreneurs have built multimillion-dollar companies, raised millions of dollars in funding, and have been recognized on the national and international scale at startup competitions. Our panel will also feature a special guest, a partner from an intellectual property law firm, who will discuss the principles of intellectual property ownership behind inventing a technology for your startup while working for a large corporation.
Price: $10 for Northwestern alumni, $5 for Northwestern students, and $15 for the General Public. Food and beverages will be included.
This event is open to the General Public. Registration closes on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. No refunds will be issued after registration closes.
